Both use the same machine and both are full pigs
The hog roast is a full pig with the ribs removed and cooked in a tray
The spit roast is a full pig that is attached to a rotisserie poll, the rotisserie
turns the pig during the cooking process and is lifted up above the machine
during the carving process.What areas do you cover?
We are based in the North of England, for small events we cover the entire North of England, for larger events 300 + we can travel anywhere in England, Scotland and Wales.
What is the minimum amount of people you cater for?
The minimum is 50 guests but if you have a smaller event we can still provide a hog roast but we would still need to charge for 50 people.
What if the weather is very bad with wind and rain?
The English weather is a pain and unpredictable at times but we do provide a 10ft x 10ft commercial gazebo to cover the service area and this can be set up close to your marquee or venue so guests don’t become to wet.
We will always arrive unless you call to cancel the event, we can hire you an extra gazebos if that is helpful.
Do you need electricity or water?
95% of the time we don’t need anything, we provide everything as part of the package.
If you are ordering a spit roast we may require access to electric mains socket but we will have extension leads with us.Do you need tables?
No we bring our own tables everything is included in the package.
What happens to any leftovers?
If you can provide us with a bowl or platter the chefs will carve the rest of the pig and leave it with you to be used later that day or the following day, all our pigs are cooked fresh so the pork could be frozen and use at a later date.
How long do you stay?
Depending on the size of the event we could be on site all day, for smaller events we arrive around one and a half hours before you are going to eat and stay until everyone has been served, the chefs will speak with you on the day to find out if everyone has been fed
How long does a pig take to cook?
It depends on the size of the pig, on average a full pig takes 7 to 8 hours a lamb takes 3 to 4 hours.

When do I need to provide final numbers and finer details?
We would need everything to be finalised at least 7 days before the event please.
Do you need to do a venue inspection?
Only for very large events, but if you think there maybe an issue please let us know and we will ask a few questions and make a site visit if required.
Do you hire crockery and cutlery?
Our garden hog roast menus include disposable crockery and cutlery, if you require something more formal please contact us we can supply china plates, linen napkins/table covers and steel cutlery.
Our staff will clean away all the cutlery and crockery from the tables as part of the service.
Will the pig come with a head on?
Yes all of our hog roast and spit roast come with a complete pig including the head, if you would like the head to be removed please let us know and we will remove the head.
What space will you require?
The ideal amount of space would be 15ft x 15ft but we can work in smaller spaces, for larger events we will need a large amount of space.
Is it possible to provide the hog roast inside?
Yes we can provide the service inside or outside, the machine will produce heat but will not produce smoke.
Do you need a deposit?
Yes we need a 25% deposit to hold the date and payment in full 7 days before the event.
Payment can be made by card, cheque, BACS or paypal
Can you provide a risk assessment?
Yes please give us a ring and will we take some information and send you a risk assessment for your event.
Do you have insurance?
Yes we have the highest cover possible, you can view our insurance by following this link – certificate of insurance
Do you have gas certificate?
Yes all of our hog roast machines are serviced every year and all come with their own gas certificate please view this link to see the gas certificate page
Are all your staff trained?
Yes all of our staff have a minimum level 1 food safety and hygiene certificate and have all been given in house training, our chefs and event staff have higher levels or education and training.
How long have you been established?
We have been established since 1984
Are your vehicles refrigerated?
Yes all of our vehicles are refrigerated and sign written, even our trailers are sign written so we look professional when we arrive at your event.
